a family business

Because we care

We are a family owned company and have been since day one. Our founders, Magnus and Oscar (father and son) have always cared deeply about our planet and the people who live on it. We believe that everyone should be able to choose food that’s good for them, their families and our planet.

The classic Swedish dishes (Husmanskost) land high on every list. So we asked ourselves, why not add some modern elements and make these dishes available on the market? Wouldn't that be something, we thought. As a result, Better Foods became our new passion. Good, affordable food that has a taste that gives the feeling of feeling home – and is environmental-friendly.

The Kitchen

Our food gets filled with love

Since September 2022, we make the food, pack it, and distribute it to all stores by ourselves. It's all done from our newly acquired factory in Enköping. By controlling the whole chain, we have taken the next step in our evolution to ensure our food always keeps the highest quality, sustainability, and of course, the best taste.

Because we know that when cooking Swedish husmanskost, the love and passion that gets poured into it makes up 95% of the taste. It's how mom made it when you were little, and it is that feeling we strive to deliver when you taste our dishes. So we hope that you will love our food just as much as we love making it for you.

Collaborations

Together for better food

Talented people working together to deliver Better Foods make the essence of who we are. So you might understand how happy we got when Sofia Henriksson, the winner of the Swedish Masterchef, decided to become our ambassador. We are also working on launching a unique line of dishes together. Stay tuned.

With Sofia, Better Foods becomes even Better as she shares our philosophy that food should be nutritious, taste great, and aim to have as little impact on our climate as possible.

A peas of sustainability

The easy way to eat less meat

By swapping 30% of the meat in our dishes with chickpeas, we make it easier to start eating less meat – without missing out on everything good about it.

Also, we make sure everything from the ingredients and how the food gets cooked, all the way to manufacturing and distribution, is overseen and fully transparent.

FAQs

Here are answers to the most common questions our customers ask.

Are your food boxes recyclable?

Yes, the recycling information is stated on the back of our packaging.

How is the food cooked?

We cook all food from the ground with carefully, handpicked ingredients. Our experienced chefs make the food in our own kitchen in Enköping, Sweden.

Do you have entirely vegetarian alternatives?

Yes, our flagship vegetarian dish consists of Halloumi -and beetroot steak with mashed potatoes and forest mushroom sauce.

Why chickpeas?

For many reasons. We see too many vegetarian brands that use soy in their dishes, and we all know the bad effects that soy can have both for the environment and our bodies. The chickpea is a great protein, filled with nutrients. It also has very low impact on the environment. Lastly, it tastes amazing.

So why just 30% less meat?

We think it is a great and realistic step in the right direction. This way, more people can effortlessly start to eat less meat. A 30% reduction in meat consumption overall would have big impact on our planet and the environment.
